Belgian music composer and digital artist, Frédéric Monnoye works essentially on experimental interdisciplinary projects mixing sound, video, narration, dance and computing. Frédéric collaborates, organizes and curates exhibitions in Brussels, Brighton and London. His main topics of experimentation are: the perceptions of reality, metacommunication, improvisation and interactive music.
Frédéric has been commissioned, exhibited and performed in Brussels and since 2003, in Brighton: Artefakt and Kimera’s Interdisciplinary Exhibitions Emma2003, Emma2004, Emma2006 in Brussels, Brighton International Festival CityRunning 2006, Brighton Festival OpenHouse 2007, Dance for Camera Festival 2007 in Brighton. As a member of the Belgian Music Collective Elphémérrances, Frédéric sings, plays analog synthesizers and works with electro-acousmatics.
Frédéric works for the film industry as a sound recordist, sound designer, music composer, co-director, editor and technical manager. He used to run a sound studio in Brussels "CREASOUND STUDIO" and taught Sound and Multimedia at the SAE Brussels. Frédéric has provided many artistic and cultural organizations from Brighton and London with his technical expertise as a technical director on exhibitions, festivals and social events. His experience in Artistic Event Management starts in 2000 in Belgium with the creation of the “Theatre Varia” an interdisciplinary arts venue based in Jumet.
Since 2000, Frédéric Monnoye has been constantly working within the arts fields, advising, teaching, supporting and setting up projects. His latest project was “Brussels Meets Brighton in London”, an Interdisciplinary Cross-Cultural Exhibition gathering 130 artists from Brussels and Brighton in the Shunt Lounge in London.
Frédéric is now playing the role of the "ambassador" of Platform Centrale and is currently reenforcing our belgian and french network and extending it to Switzerland and Spain.
